"Hiking Day" by Anne Rockwell

  Tales from the Trails Thursdays is a video series in which NWPS instructor Elizabeth will read some of her favorite stories at some of her favorite places in the Zilker Preserve! After every story, Elizabeth will provide a fun activity to do that compliments the story.  In this first video, watch Elizabeth as she reads "Hiking Day" by Anne Rockwell and goes on a hike through the preserve.

As parents and early childhood instructors, providing an enriching educational experience for young ones is essential. In our Teaching Tuesday series, NWPS instructors Caroline and Elizabeth will explore different topics surrounding nature-based education. NWPS instructor Elizabeth begins the series as she explains the benefits of nature play for early childhood and how to foster it as an adult. Elizabeth explains what a risk assessment is, how to scaffold, and how to model nature play for young children.
